Projector Screen Gain Explained for UST Owners
Screen gain describes how strongly a screen reflects light in a reference direction. It is useful, but it should never be read in isolation.

What gain means in plain English
A gain value above 1.0 generally indicates more light is concentrated toward the reference viewing direction than from a 1.0 reference surface. A value below 1.0 usually reflects less light back in that direction.
Why higher gain can narrow the sweet spot
Concentrating more light toward the center can reduce brightness for viewers sitting farther off-axis. That is why gain and viewing angle often trade against one another.
Gain in bright rooms
A higher centered brightness can help a picture hold up under ambient light, but only if the optical structure is also rejecting the unwanted light. Brightness alone cannot restore contrast when the room is washing the screen out.
